Many girls look forward to getting married. They look forward to walking down the aisle with their prince charming. But before that happens, it’s important to understand whether you’re wife material, because if you’re not, you might just be wasting your time. Your prince charming will not come along.

There are certain things men look for in women, especially those they want to spend the rest of their lives with, and if you don’t tick those boxes, you might end up waiting forever.

In this article, I’ll be sharing signs that tell you whether you’re wife material, and by the end, you’ll know exactly where you belong.

1. You Don’t Know What You Want

You might be hoping that, when you get married, your husband will show you what you want, but that’s not how it works. Marriage isn’t about compensation. As a woman, you need to know what you want out of life. A man will only complement you; he’s not meant to give you direction.

You grew up without him. You became an adult without him. By now, you should have a clear sense of what you want in life. If you’re sitting around waiting for a man to come into your life and suddenly show you the way, it means you’re not ready. When that man eventually comes, he’ll be confused by you because he has his own life to live.

Men aren’t attracted to women who don’t know what they want. If you can’t clearly state what you want out of life, that’s a turn-off. He wants to be with a woman who knows what she wants and can support him. If you don’t know what you want, you’re not wife material.

2. You’re Waiting for a Man to Rescue You

You fantasize about a prince in shining armor coming to save you. That might be nice in movies, but real life is different. You have to stand up for yourself. You have to be strong.

This isn’t about fighting people. It’s about being sufficient, emotionally stable, and grounded. If you act like you can’t survive without a man, you’ll scare him away. You need to be okay being alone, okay by yourself. If he comes, great. If he doesn’t, you’ll still be fine.

No man wants the pressure of being someone’s savior. You need to be strong on your own first.

3. You’re Looking for a Meal Ticket

You want a man to rescue you from poverty. You don’t want to work. You believe marriage is the way out. That’s a huge sign you’re not wife material.

No man wants a liability. In this age and time, women are working, earning, and building their own lives. When a man sees that all you want is a meal ticket through marriage, he’ll run. He doesn’t want that burden.

Marriage isn’t a meal ticket. Whatever you want in life, go get it yourself.

4. You’re Self-Absorbed and Selfish

Marriage isn’t for selfish people. It’s for people willing to make sacrifices. Two people become one, and that requires selflessness.

If you’re not ready to put someone else before yourself sometimes, you’re not wife material. There’s nothing wrong with being selfish, but you need to accept that marriage might not be for you.

5. You’re Not Ready to Be Submissive

This may be controversial, but in marriage, the man is the head of the family. If you can’t accept that, you’re not ready.

If you enter marriage thinking no man can tell you what to do, you’re not wife material. If submission isn’t your thing, that’s fine, but marriage might not be for you.

6. You’re Not Ready to Be a Mother

Not every woman wants children, and that’s okay, but for many men, marriage means family. If you don’t see yourself ever playing a motherly role, you might not be ready for marriage.

Motherhood is about nurturing and caring. If you don’t see yourself in that role at all, you’re not wife material.

While you’re waiting for your Mr. Right, it’s important to prepare yourself. These signs are meant to help you evaluate yourself honestly. When you become wife material, you’ll also have the confidence to ask whether a man is husband material, because it goes both ways.
