Your heart beats faster as the day approaches and your tailor has told you the clothe is ready. You get to his shop and he starts the typical Nigerian tailor or designer tales and you're like "who does that?
You left the tailor's shop in anger and disappointment but the scenario repeats itself again and again.
So, you ask, "Why are Nigerian designers like this?" Don't worry, I would show you why.
1. Too much workload
The truth most Nigerian tailors wouldn't tell you is that they have so much on their tables. Whenever you come with your materials, your tailor can even promise to finish sewing the material before you "go come collect am". He even cuts the fabrics in your presence only for you to return on the promised collection day to hear tales by moonlight.
2. Fear of losing you
Your tailor may not tell you this and that's why he does the first one. Most Nigerian tailors or designers think that the moment you give your material to another tailor, he has lost a customer. So, they end up keeping appointments.
3. Poor equipment
Some Nigerian tailors don't have the machines to do some kind of work. Even when they do, they are grossly inadequate to do the work they have.
4. It's in the blood
As with most "handwork" people, many Nigerians believe that not keeping appointments is their second nature, and since tailors are part of them, they can only take up where their counterparts left.
