Did you know that fifteen minutes of laughter burns up to forty calories? Well, that’s just one of the amazing facts about laughter. With the unflattering happenings in Nigeria, such as fuel scarcity, epileptic power supply, and fall of the naira, one has a thousand and one reasons to be unhappy and laughing maybe the last thing on one’s mind. But guess what? There are people whose job is to make us laugh even in the most trying times! Who are these people? I’m talking about our high-in-demand comedy actors in Nollywood.

In no particular order, let’s take a look at our top four comic Actors in Nollywood.

1. Mr. Ibu

The mere mention of the name “Mr. Ibu,” gets some people rolling on the floor with laughter, and that’s because this Nollywood Actor, whose real name is John Okafor, looks every inch a clown. The sixty-year-old thespian depicts a high level of ‘stupidity’ that leaves his audience thinking that some nuts in his brain are loose, and need to be tightened before he ends up in a psychiatric hospital.
Since playing the character “Mr. Ibu,” in the eponymous comedy in 2004, the name has stuck with his fans all over the world even more than his real name.

2. Osuofia

Born Nkem Owo, this Nollywood Veteran is on a level of his own in the comedy genre of movie making in Nigeria. His sterling delivery of the Character “Osuofia” in a movie, in the early days of Nollywood, earned him the pseudo name.
His career as an Actor took a different dimension when he starred in the 2008 hit movie “Osuofia in London,” which shot him to superstardom. Due to his versatility in pulling off different roles, Osuofia is rated as one of the most talented actors in Nollywood.

3&4 .Aki and Pawpaw

It’s hard to separate these two hilarious fellows from each other, hence, they are together on this list. Ever since Chinedu Ikedieze, popularly known as Aki and Osita Iheme, popularly known as Pawpaw, shot to stardom in the 2003 hit comedy “Aki na Ukwa,” it’s been impossible for them to create individual identities for themselves. With similar body features and mannerisms, the pair makes a perfect combination, making viewers miss the presence of the other whenever any of them makes a solo appearance in a movie.

Aki and Pawpaw who are 39 and 35, respectively, were highly welcomed by viewers because they pulled off comic roles as kids. Comic roles were hitherto, reserved for adults in Nollywood.

Some of the most beautiful things in life are free, and laughter isn’t an exception. When you are stressed out from the hustling and bustling of life, you should see a good comedy flick starring any of these guys, and laugh away your ‘sorrows.’ Just be careful not to get injured while rolling on the floor.
