Tips to Slay at Work on a Monday

It’s Monday morning! Okay, I know most people dread Monday mornings; it’s the kick-off day at work, and there’s usually a pile of work from the previous week, to be done. It’s even worse for those who don’t necessarily like their job. But hey, that’s life for you, it sucks sometimes. And like my Professor back in University would always say, “always try to make the best out of any ugly situations you find yourself in.” So?

If you have a 9 to 5, then it’s important that you are punctual. Wondering why? There are no jobs in Nigeria, so, the last thing you need is to be issued a sack letter because you weren’t on duty, when you were supposed to be. Only God knows how long you’d have to stay jobless before you get another job. Even after trekking the whole streets of Lagos, Abuja, Portharcourt, or any other states, there’s no guarantee that you’ll find a job. So, ensure that you wake up as early as possible. Lateness to work could be tolerated or excused on any other days of the week, but not on a Monday. And woe betide you, if your boss gets to work before you, OYO is your case.

If you have a problem waking up early, please, get an alarm clock. It’s not that expensive. That little object could save you from a lot of troubles at work. I think setting it to 5am is good enough. Do you think it’s too early? How about 5:30am? By the time you are done with the little preparations, the clock would be hitting 7am.

Try to look your best on a Monday. You had the whole weekend to put together your outfit for today, no one wants to see you looking like you got a last-minute notice to be at work. If you can’t slay with your outfit on a Monday, then when will you? On a Friday? And please, wear a smile. Starting off the week with a long face could breed bad luck throughout the week. Even if you don’t feel like smiling, fake it. At least, it’s for a good cause.

I’ve got to stop here. It’s a Monday morning, remember? I have work to attend to too.

Have a lovely week ahead!
