One of the biggest money myths is that hard work makes one rich, and hard work requires more time. Spending a lot of time on tasks doesn't guarantee great results. You can achieve greater success by making better use of your time. The big question is: how can you do that?
1. Create a Schedule Ahead of the Next Day
You need to do this a day before. You can’t wait until that day to start planning, or you won’t be able to do it effectively. Sit down and take a look at what you want your next day to be like. Consider your appointments and engagements that you can't push aside.
Engagements or activities that are a must for you are non-negotiable. If you have a very important meeting at 10 A.M., you have to show up. Those ones are fixed, but what about other flexible engagements? Arrange them at periods that are suitable for you.
There is no need to plan for something that you know you won’t fulfill. You must plan your day properly ahead of time. If you don’t do that, you’ll just be going about without any direction. Having a plan helps you know exactly what you're supposed to do at any given time.
This will help you be more organized as you go through the day.
2. Execute Your Most Important Tasks at Your Energy Peak
We all have a period when we are most productive and our body is in the best state. That is the time for you to do your most difficult tasks. These tasks require a lot of attention and brainpower. You need to be very agile as you engage in them.
Execute them at your peak period because that is when you’re in the best frame of mind. If you execute important tasks when you’re tired or weak, there isn't much you can do. You may not even be able to get through them because you’ll be tired before you know it. Ensure you schedule tasks that are key to how your day and life play out.
Once you get those out of the way, you can begin to execute less important tasks. At those times, you may not be in the best condition, but it won’t matter much. You can just manage and get them done even when you aren't at your best.
3. Leverage Technology
There are a lot of tools that you can use to make your life and work easier. You don’t have to do everything manually. We live in a digital society, and there is a tool for almost every task. You just haven’t checked them out yet.
The same way you don’t necessarily wash clothes with your hands because you use a machine, you can use tools for other tasks. Technology might not necessarily do everything for you, but it can do a lot. It can enhance your work and help you do more in less time. Because you’re not doing everything yourself, it will do half of the work for you, if not more.

4. Delegate and Collaborate
You don’t have to do everything yourself, especially if you have people who can assist you. Learn to delegate. You can do the most important tasks if you feel nobody can do them as well as you. However, there are other tasks you can pass to others.
While you’re doing something, they are also doing something. You don’t have to finish one thing and then go to the next. You can be doing one thing while they handle another. Before you know it, you will have more work done in less time.
You also need to collaborate with people, as no man is an island. We live in a society that encourages joining forces. Some of the biggest organizations and businesses thrive on collaboration. People are coming together to do more than they could alone.
When you join forces with like-minded people, you are able to accomplish more. So, ensure you delegate your tasks and collaborate with others if you really want to be efficient.
5. Take Short Breaks in Between
Back in the day, we used to hear that it was okay to work for long hours. That turned out not to be so cool because the mind gets tired easily. You are a human being, not a machine. You must take little breaks.
You can work for 30, 40, or 45 minutes and then take a break for 10 or 15 minutes. You need to stand up, take a walk, or move your legs. Just do something to get your mind off work temporarily. When you take little breaks, you are refreshed and rejuvenated.
That moment when you are off work, your body is getting itself together. You are building up momentum for what you will need next. When you go back, you are in a better state of mind to deliver. Don’t work yourself for long hours without taking any breaks.
Working without breaks is counterproductive. There is only so much your mind and body can take. It might look like you’re doing the work, but are you doing a good job? When you take breaks, the work you do will be better because you’ll be in a better state of mind.
